At Conway Canine Companions we practice positive reinforcement training! We DO NOT force your dog to enter into an uncomfortable situation, grab collars, drag your dog, spank, swat, or show our "alpha rolls." We focus on positive training by using Operant Conditioning. Operant Conditioning is the process of changing an animal's response to a certain stimulus by manipulating the consequences that follow right after the response. If you're worried you may have a reactive dog, please feel free to call us. We want to make sure RDC is right for you, so we encourage you to give us as much information as possible. Pamela trains this course and she has extensive knowledge on these cases.
Are you unable to take your dog for a walk for fear he will lunge and bark at other dogs? Is your dog fearful of people or dogs? You may want to enroll in the RDC. We follow Emma Parson's "Click to Calm" model and have had good success. Some of our graduates have even gone on to compete in dog sports and one is now a certified therapy dog. This training is not a magic potion so not all dogs will have that level of success but each one will improve and you will learn how to deal with your dog's reactivity. Class size is limited to 4 dogs and handlers.
